The Mini-Me Project

R&D Technologies recently worked with Jenny Egiolas and her son Thomas to bring one of their designs to life using our in-house manufacturing facility. After designing a “mini-me” prototype on Solidworks, Jenny and her son sought out local companies to help 3D print the model. The two had nothing but good things to say about working with our team; and Thomas was amazed by our state-of-the-art facility. Below are a few kind words from Jenny about her experience:

“I started a new position at Onshape and was showing my son how the new software works. Since he is my mini me and a budding engineer – he immediately wanted to design something. We modeled up a “robot” that had moving arms and legs and a hidden compartment inside to store a gift. A gift within the gift.

Once we had created the model and assembled it in the virtual world, T like any kid wanted to have it made. Since we do not own a printer – yet – I reached out to my network to find someone who had the capability to create this for us.

Justin Coutu at R&D Technologies – not only printed him for us but also gave a very excited kid a tour of their operation. We brought the pieces home, painted them, and assembled him. He came out great!!

Pretty amazing what T can create in Onshape now. With the help of R&D Technologies we got this awesome project printed, so grateful for companies that help bring our work to life!”
