R&D Technologies Weekly Tech Tip
Topic:
Saving A Picture
SolidWorks
will allow you to save a jpeg, tif or psd file from a SolidWorks
part or assembly file. The drawback is that there is no way to
increase the quality of the picture. The dots per inch(DPI) is
set by SolidWorks. However you are allowed to increase the dpi
for drawing files. So all you have to do is create SolidWorks
drawing that contains the view you are interested in. Then Right
Click on the sheet and go to Properties so that you can uncheck
display sheet format to hide the title block. Then go to your
System Colors (Toolsą OptionsąSystem
OptionsąColors)
and check off Use specified color for drawings paper color to
hide the wrinkled paper effect. In that area you can also change
the background color (drawings, paper color). Now you are ready
to hit Fileąsave.
Change the file of type to tif file. Once that is done you will
see an Options button appear in the lower right. In the options
select Print capture and set your DPI to the desired level.
