R&D Technologies Weekly Tech Tip

Topic: Drawing View Relative to Model

When creating a drawing of a weldment, or any multibody solid, you can create a view of just one of the bodies. There is no need to use configurations, or any show/hide tricks, simply use the drawing view called “Relative to Model” (Insertŕ Drawing viewŕ Relative to model). Once you have started the view creation, simply click on any view that contains the whole weldment. This will bring up the 3D model. Then when you choose the Scope you can tell it to select just one of the bodies. Next you can choose the faces of the body to help orient the view on the 2D drawing. Once you click the green check it brings you back to the drawing and allows you to place the view.
